About the Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards

We are pleased to announce the 2022 finalists for our inaugural Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards!

Congratulations to AECOM, Beca, Electrix, Gridworks, Mitton ElectroNet, Northpower, Solnet, Ventia, and several Transpower teams.

Awards Ceremony 2 November 2022

We are thrilled to host an awards ceremony at the Public Trust Hall in Wellington on the evening of Wednesday, 2 November 2022. Mike McRoberts is Master of Ceremony and a local jazz band, Twinset, will perform. We’ll share stories of pride and excellence and come together to strengthen connections, celebrate our craft, and announce the award winners.

Nominees not selected as finalists will have an opportunity to purchase tickets. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase in a few weeks’ time, once finalists have confirmed their attendee numbers. You can email expressions of interest to EngTechAwards@transpower.co.nz. Tickets cost $120 per person or $1,200 for a table of 10. We hope organisations with award finalists will support nominees by purchasing tickets to the awards ceremony on their behalf.

Purpose of the awards

This is our chance to celebrate our engineering and technology specialists who demonstrate excellence and deliver outstanding solutions that empower the energy future.

Our Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards are for Transpower engineering and technology specialists and our wider Transpower whānau – our engineering consultant panel members, our service providers, and other external consultants, contractors, and sub-contractors we work closely with. The Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards will be biennial and the highest accolades in Aotearoa’s electricity transmission sector. We look forward to our people and our wider whānau getting involved.

Engineering and technology work sits at the very core of what we do at Transpower. As the owner and operator of New Zealand’s national electricity transmission system we rely on engineering solutions and use of technology to solve tricky problems and deliver our services.

We are proud to have people working with us who engage in problem solving and find solutions that improve the ways we work, consider the wider impacts of their work, understand sometimes less is more, and raise our standards. We want to shine a light on our people and celebrate their work.
